About Mystic Lake YMCA Camp
Since 1926, Mystic Lake YMCA Camp has been providing exceptional programs for children and families. We focus on core values of honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility, which are emphasized in all activities. Through character development, we foster social responsibility, self-confidence, friendships, and a sense of belonging. Our staff at Mystic Lake YMCA Camp is dedicated, experienced, and highly trained. All staff members undergo thorough reference checks, previous work experience reviews, and criminal background screenings. They are CPR and First Aid certified, and specialists hold certifications in their areas of expertise.
At Mystic Lake YMCA Camp, the goals are to help each child develop social responsibility through environmental stewardship, community living, and teamwork. The camp also strives to build self-worth and confidence by creating an accepting environment where all children feel welcome and valued.
Philosophy and Mission
Philosophy
Mystic Lake YMCA Camp believes in the transformative power of camp programming. Our philosophy is rooted in three guiding principles:
1. Personal Growth Through Challenge and Support: We believe that every young person grows when they are challenged in a supportive community. Our programs are designed to help campers build confidence, resilience, and independence, all while having fun and stepping outside their comfort zones.
2. Community and Belonging: We create a camp culture where every child feels seen, heard, and valued. By living and playing together, campers learn empathy, cooperation, and the strength of diverse communities. We celebrate individuality and foster a sense of belonging.
3. Connection to Nature: Nature is our classroom and our playground. Camp life encourages campers to unplug, explore, and develop a lasting appreciation for the outdoors. Whether paddling on the lake or hiking under the stars, we embrace the rhythms of the natural world to teach stewardship and wonder.
Our Mission
At Mystic Lake YMCA Camp, our mission is to inspire growth, build character, and nurture the potential in every camper through meaningful outdoor experiences grounded in the core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. We are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where all campers can explore nature, develop new skills, and build lifelong friendships. Whether around the campfire, on the trail, or during team challenges, every moment is an opportunity to learn, lead, and grow.
